Obituary of Donna Marie McMaster
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Donna Marie McMaster at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Donna passed away at the age of 66 following a brief illness.
Born in Amherst, NS on July 10, 1958, she was the daughter of the late James Earl McMaster and Annie Josephine (Glode).
Although Donna was a private person, she was also a friend to many and a great listener who had an encouraging word for those who needed it. She had a good sense of humor that remained until her passing.
Donna had many interests, one of which was walking on the beach with her partner Terry searching for sea glass. She loved a good book, a good joke and metal detecting for treasures.
Donna was a very hardworking person who worked at Mel’s Tea Room for thirty-seven years. After leaving Mel’s, she chose a new career path; working with children, which she loved, and the children loved her. Donna also enjoyed her time volunteering with Louise Partridge, the owner of Dorchester Meals To Go.
Donna was much loved and will be greatly missed by her partner of thirty three years, Terry Hicks of Dorchester; her two fur babies, Buddy and Minnie; her sister, Ann Crossman of Cherry Burton; her brothers, Terry (Bernice) McMaster of Sackville and Dean (David Von Appen) of Toronto; her mother-in-law, Carol Hicks of Sackville; her sister-in-law, Gail (Dan Michaud) of Sackville; her brothers-in-law, Laurie (Trit) Hicks of Dorchester and Brian (Susan) Hicks of Calgary, as well as by several cousins. Donna was a loving aunt to Chrissy, Jamie, Scott, Matthew, Ashley, Stephanie, Morgan, Kristin, Kari, Nicole, Chantal and Steve; a great-aunt to several nieces and nephews, as well as special friend to Sylvia, Susan and Louise. She is also survived by many extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brother-in-law, Bob Crossman.
Donna’s family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the Emergency Department, ICU and Palliative Care for the excellent care and compassion she received at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton, NB.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge St, Sackville NB (506) 364-8188. As requested by Donna, there will be a graveside service in the Dorchester Rural Cemetery on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 2 pm with Rev'd Fr. Craig O’Brien officiating. The dress is casual and all are invited to attend.
