Obituary of Douglas Burtt Ritchie

It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas Burtt Ritchie announces his passing on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the Moncton Hospital. Doug passed away at the age of 81 with his loving family by his side.

 

Born in Woodstock, N.B. on December 8, 1940, he was the son of the late Anna Louise (Griffith) and Elwood Burtt Ritchie. 

 

Doug had a brief stint at the Bank of Nova Scotia before becoming one of the first class of radio and TV technicians to graduate from the Moncton NBCC. He then became employed by  Lounsbury Company Limited until 1995.

 

Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Martha (Armstrong); his son, Bruce (Nadia) of Middleton, N.B.; his daughter, Erin Parsons (Richard) of Grand Falls Windsor, NL, as well as by Pa’s girls, Alyssa, Brookelyn, Ellah, Sydney and Norah. In addition, Doug will be fondly remembered by his sisters, Constance Soucy (Robert) of Kemptville, Ont. and Catherine Boudreau (Sean) of Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B.; his brother, George Malcolm (Shirley) of Woodstock, N.B., as well as by his brother-in-law, Winston Armstrong (Jean) of Dundee, Quebec. Also left to mourn are many nieces, nephews, cousins, special cousin-in-law, Debbora Keeler of Fort Covington, N.Y., two special MtA girls, Donna Rowsell and Elizabeth Pulman, as well as by his Walton’s Beach family.

 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Sackville (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Doug’s family invites you to join them to share memories and celebrate his life on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 7-9 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will take place on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 1 pm at St. Ann’s Anglican Church, Westcock with Rev'd Fr. Craig O’Brien officiating. In keeping with Covid restrictions, Proof of Double Vaccination, a Government ID and masks are required. We thank you for your understanding. The burial will take place in the spring in the Westcock Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doug may be made to St. Ann’s Anglican Church, Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or to the charity of one’s choice.
