Obituary of Arthur Glenn Holmes

It is with sadness, but peace of heart that the family of Art Holmes announces his passing on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital at the age of 79. Born on January 22, 1942 in Dorchester, NB at the Smith’s Home on Woodlawn Road, he was the son of the late Rheta Pearl (Hicks) and Harry Henry Holmes. Art was a man who worked many different jobs in his lifetime, starting with his employment at Enterprise Foundry, Fawcett Foundry and then doing appliance repair for Lounsbury’s in Sackville. He was employed with the Times Transcript, Sackville Tribune Post and the Globe and Mail doing newspaper and flyer deliveries, at the Big Stop as a dishwasher, baker of delicious bread for Jacob’s Larder and a bakery in NS, driver for Doug’s Taxi, a roofer and he also owned and operated Art’s Esso in Middle Sackville. For many years and until recently, Art was the man to call if you ever needed an appliance fixed and he always knew what to do. Art will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Art will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda (Fillmore) Holmes and her children, Tracey (Maurice) Hicks and Melanie (Travis) Lewis; his children, Deborah (Pat) Holmes-Hansen, Chris Holmes, Kyle Griffin, Colin (Shiann) Holmes, Colleen (Joe) Vandaele and their mother, Sharon Sears; his step-children, Jerry (Debbie) Goodwin, Eddie (Marjorie) Goodwin, Donna (Regis) Chabot, Kathy (Ben) Clamon and Roxanne Legere (Dean Acton); his sister, Rhoberta Steeves; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his parents, Art was pre-deceased by his brother, Buddy Holmes; his sister, Hazel Estabrooks, his infant brother, Harry Holmes, as well as by his second wife, Margaret Goodwin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. E4L 3P1 (364-8188).
