Obituary of Faye Louise (Smith) MacKay
Faye Louise (Smith) MacKay died at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, New Brunswick, on Tuesday, May 25th, of Alzheimer’s.
She was born on April 24th, 1938, in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, to James and Ivy (Marshall) Smith of New Glasgow. She was predeceased by her parents and her younger brothers, Jim and Bill of Thompson, Manitoba, and White Rock, British Columbia, respectively. She is survived by her husband, Roy and son, Christopher, both of Sackville, New Brunswick.
She married James Roy Mackay at a ceremony in Pictou Landing, on October 6, 1962. They moved to Moncton not long after, where she worked at Eaton’s in the payroll department. After some time as a mother and homemaker, she worked as the church secretary at Central United Church in Moncton, where she had also been a member of the congregation for many years. She lived in Edgett’s Landing and Salisbury before moving to Sackville, New Brunswick.
Faye always loved to garden. Her passion for flowers led to many roadside stops to collect specimens that she would dry, press, and work into her hand-made crafts. She also loved animals — cats and dogs, especially — and was never without at least one.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Faye’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours or funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Drew Nursing Home Foundation would be appreciated. On-line condolences & sharing of memories may be forwarded to the family through our website www.campbellsfuneralhome.com or by visiting the funeral home Facebook page.
