Hello folks, sorry to learn of Tom's passing. My mom is Alta Crawford and my aunt ( her sister) is Esther Ward. I had the opportunity to meet Tom during various music functions Alta and Esther and Tom were involved with. Whenever we drove past Tom's camp on a "Sunday Drive" mom and Esther were quick to point it out to me ( my wife and I live on PEI) and remark of the fun and music entertainment they had enjoyed there over the years. Both of these great ladies have passed on but I know they would be sorry for your loss and supportive of this note.
Our thoughts , prayers and good memories are with you now.

So sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I have so many memories of the annual bluegrass festivals held down on the cape. Johnson's Mills was a rocking place and we planned for this weekend all summer, waiting with anticipation. The Stiles crew consisting of Ralph and his crew, which included my Dad ~ Dave and the rest of our family loved seeing some people we only saw once a year ~ it was a reunion of sorts. Tom always had a smile and a story to tell. The cape has lost another great man. My thoughts and prayers go out to you during this difficult time.

With saddened hearts we bid our farewell to Tom, one of Sackville's finest; with warm hearts we remember his lust for life and love for family, friends, community, and our country.
One couldn't be near Tom without smiling, as his was truly infectious. He was always kind and a true gentleman, and he made time for everyone.
Tom was an smart man, someone enjoyable with whom to converse, and he was skilled and talented in so many ways, many of which he shared with people throughout our community and beyond.
My fond memories of Tom go as far back as when I was a young child; he would always make time for me and any other children who were in the mix. When we became teens, at a time when some adults sometimes choose to avoid interaction, Tom would be the first to start a real conversation. I know that Tom made a point of becoming my friend when he could have been spending all of his leisure time with the adults at whatever events we were all at, and I cherish him for that. As a teenager, he had a way of making a rather desolate place like Shepody Bay fun. I think we can all take a lesson from Tom on this and more.
When I returned to Sackville after being away for nearly two decades, Tom not only knew me immediately but once again made time for me.
I also respect Tom for the cherished friend he was to my parents, and the many, many good times he brought to all.
I didn't see Tom often in his later years, but I shall miss his kind eyes, his beautiful smiling face, and always kind words.
Tom has surely earned a special place in Heaven, one where I suspect while he keeps a watchful eye over family and friends, he's also helping others with one hand and holding an instrument of choice in the other.
God bless you, Tom, and to those who loved you, my family offers sincerest sympathy. I hope the love of God and support of family and friends offer some level of comfort as they mourn the loss of such a good human being.

Barb, Scott, Janice and Jackie.. My sincere condolences go out to you and your family. This is such a sad time. Tom was a fabulous person, very friendly thoughtful and loving. He has been a part of my family's life for as long as I can remember. Special times at Johnson's Mills/Shepody Bay. Those were great times with all of the Johnson's. His picture is exactly how I want to remember him. He is at peace now, I hope somehow you can get some comfort in that. :)

To the family and relatives of Tom Johnson and to everyone else who knew Tom.
In our thoughts we feel the sorrow and compassion for all. Tom has been a family friend for many years, while serving in Shilo Manitoba our families merge together as one. Always eager to share in all activities including the fishing trip to Northern Manitoba, snowmobiling with our boys and attending many hockey games. Our family referred to him as Uncle Tom. We enjoyed the music he so willingly shared. Those memories and more we will always cherish in our hearts...
With our deepest condolences, we send our blessing that you will find some comfort in knowing how we treasure having Tom as our very good friend.24

Allan still laughs about all the things Uncle Tom would do to when there were a bunch of kids around. He always knew how to wear them out(so there would be peace & quiet later, I think).

Aunt Barb, Jackie, Janice, Scott and families...we are sending our love and thoughts during this hard time. Uncle Tom was such a life force- I know his spirit is carrying on ...and I know how hard it is to say goodbye.
As my Uncle I knew him as a fun loving guy ...who was so full of energy and always planning something ...with a "can do " attitude. Thank goodness he had Aunt Barb to keep him under control ( at least she tried )!
I recall being at the cottage when we were all so young and how he rousted us out of bed in the early morning with such enthusiasm ...I was so excited to greet the day to see what we were going to do ...until I realized that he was taking us on a long run ...it was like a military boot camp- but we did it !!!
I loved to listen to Uncle Tom, Uncle Cutter and Dad when they all were together, telling stories of their childhood...and I marvelled at how wonderful it all sounded! They laughed so easily and taught us to appreciate the simple things in life.
I wish we were there with you to celebrate his life and to give you all hugs and support. Thinking of you , today and everyday .

Every once in a while in your life, you meet a person who makes a real difference. Tom is one of those people. When I was younger, he used to spend time helping me put music to the songs I wrote and always invited me to sing at events he was attending. He always had a kind word of encouragement and a funny story to tell. I had the pleasure of one last visit before Christmas. He told me that my Dad used to come to his house on his bike on a Saturday to his house to invite his family for Sunday dinner. Tome said he was always excited when that happened because my grandmother was a great cook and he could always count on a roast of pork, beef or moose. He also told me that my grandfather lost his thumb on a saw while he was working, something I had never known. I know that he was welcomed into Heaven with open arms from those who he loved that had gone before him and he will be waiting when the rest of us follow. One song that I think is so appropriate in this case, even though it is not bluegrass, is Walk On by U2. We will walk on until we can follow the trail he has blazed before us and we will think often of Tom's kindness and love him forever.

We are saddened to learn of Tom's passing and take this opportunity to express and pass on our most sincere condolances.
I will cherish the memories of times shared between our two families many years ago in Shilo and the weekend camping trips to Riding Mountain. More recently our chance meeting with Barb and Tom in Florida was a blessing as I was able to introduce my wife to you and although our time shared on that occasion was short, Virginia appreciated the meeting of you both.
I will always remember Tom with fondness and respect for he truly was a man who quickly earned ones respect. His memory will bring a smile to my face, sitting around the campfire, enjoying a few pops and speaking about past experiences and camping trips of my youth, which Tom was a part of.
A gentle soul has walked through the gates, our loss is Heaven's gain. Rest in peace Mr. Johnson, you will be missed but never forgotten.
