Obituary of Clair Ivan Wheaton
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints”
With deepest regret and profound love, the family of Clair Ivan Wheaton announces his passing into eternity on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Born on July 16, 1936, in the Mount View area to Reginald and Nettie (Stiles) Wheaton, Clair lived a full and faith-filled life deeply rooted in the community of Sackville, New Brunswick, where he spent his entire lifetime.
In 1958, Clair came to a personal knowledge of Jesus Christ, a decision that profoundly shaped every aspect of his life. His quiet strength, steadfast faith, and gentle spirit were evident to all who knew him and will continue to inspire those who follow.
Clair is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 67 years, Patricia (Balser) Wheaton, and by their sons and daughters-in-law, Colin (Susan Howatt) and Philip (Carole Smith). He will also be dearly missed by his cherished grandchildren — Matthew (Katie), Rebekah (Marvin), Jesse (Lauren), Brittany (Morgan), Christiana (Obed), and Benjamin — who brought him great meaning and joy. Clair is also survived by his treasured great-grandchildren, Julia and Thomas.
Over the years, Clair worked in various places, including the Enterprise Foundry and Mount Allison University, but his greatest vocational passion was in real estate. He delighted in purchasing, renovating, renting, and selling homes, leaving his mark on Sackville through the care, integrity, and diligence he brought to every project.
Clair was known for his remarkable work ethic and commitment to excellence in everything he undertook. Even well into his eighties, it was not uncommon for members of the community to comment on seeing him engaged in demanding physical work — a testament to his determination, energy, and love of purpose.
More than anything, Clair will be remembered as a gentle, devoted man of faith, deeply committed to Jesus Christ and His Church. His life was an example of humility, dedication, and love — a legacy that continues to bless his family and all who knew him.
The Wheaton family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Sackville Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. The kindness and attentiveness shown went far beyond what was expected. Special thanks are given to Dr. Andrea Wall for her wise counsel, compassionate presence, and life-affirming support.
Arrangements are under the compassionate care of Erin Campbell, Campbell’s Funeral Home, Sackville, NB.
