Obituary of Erma Gladys (Noiles) Black

The family of Erma (Noiles) Black announces her passing on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Erma passed away peacefully at the age of 95 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital.

Erma was born in Boundary Creek, N.B. on November 28, 1929 to the late Jessie (Jonah) and Walter Noiles.

Erma is survived by her three children, Pat (Henry) Cormier, Sackville, N.B.; Robert (Diane) Black, Shubenacadie, N.S. and David (Terri) Black, Point de Bute, N.B.; her grandchildren, Tracy Cormier, Sackville, N.B., Alison Cormier (Ben Hardy), Iqaluit, NU, Shane Cormier, Calgary, AB, Jason (Dorie) Goodwin, Calgary, AB, Tristan Black (Christin),Fawcett Hill, N.B., Brandon (Jolene) Black, Riverview, N.B. and Braedon (Janice) Black, Whitehorse, YT; her step-granddaughter, Crystal (Rauly) Brant, Shubenacadie, N.S.; her brother, Edward Noiles, Amherst, N.S. and his children and families, Susan, Cathy, Rita, Mike and Gary, as well as by her very special granddaughter, Melanie Colwell, Sackville, N.B., all dearly loved and treasured.

Erma is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Connor Melanson, Sackville, N.B., Skylar Black (his mom, Mindy) Riverview, N.B., Shamus and Kira Black, Whitehorse, YT and Adam and Hailey Black, Riverview, N.B.

Erma was predeceased by her husband of seventy-seven years, Forrester (Sonny), in November of 2024; her sister, Linda Ayer; her granddaughter, Carissa Black, Moncton, N.B., as well as by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Noiles.

Erma and Sonny square danced for thirty-five years travelling to many countries. Her hands were very busy making wedding dresses, square dance dresses, quilts, shawls and quilts for “Linus” blankets.

She lived her “dash”, enjoyed her life and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 1-2 pm followed by the funeral service at 2 pm with Pastor Andrew Swanson officiating.  A reception will follow. The burial will take place in the Point de Bute Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Erma may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Main Street Baptist Church, Diabetic Association of Canada or to the charity of one’s choice..
